Co-Founder & Chef Liason

Sarah is a Co-Founder of Chicago Chefs Cook and our Chef Liason. In her role, Sarah works with Chicago’s culinary and hospitality industries to ensure Chicago Chefs Cook best represents the needs and desires of the community. Sarah also mobilizes chefs and restaurateurs to support our initiatives, creating lasting relationships along the way.

Professionally, Sarah is the Co-Owner & Chef of Prairie Grass Cafe in Northbrook, Illinois. Before opening Prairie Grass in 2004, Sarah was the Restaurant Chef of The Dining Room at the Ritz Carlton Chicago, owned and operated by Four Seasons, for 21 years. She is a two-time James Beard Award Winner and was recently named Restaurateur of the Year by the Illinois Restaurant Association.

Additionally, Sarah is very passionate about local food, creating a better model in the culinary industry, and helping others. Sarah was a founding member and former President of Green City Market, a non-profit farmers market in Chicago. She continues working to bring awareness of the organic, sustainable food movement to the mainstream. Sarah is also a founding member of The Abundance Setting, a charity that supports working women & mothers in the culinary industry. She has recently become a member of the Chef Corp for World Central Kitchen, an on-the-ground food aid organization that has partnered with Chicago Chefs Cook numerous times in the past, and she acts as an advisor to Chef Sebastian White of The Evolved Network, which creates a wellness space through food, farming, and cooking for “our kids” that are underprivileged.
